Most "Unbiased" Reviews Aren't
Free jars show up at reviewers' doors constantly. Not all of them tell you that, and it changes what gets said.
Hot TakeBrands send free product to reviewers because it works — a glowing post reaches more real buyers than any ad a platform will actually approve. Nothing wrong with that on its own. The problem is when the free-jar relationship never gets mentioned on the post itself.
A reviewer who's getting comped by a brand every month has a real incentive, even subconsciously, to round scores up and round criticism down. That's not some grand conspiracy — it's just how relationships work. But readers deserve to know which reviews are backed by a paid or gifted relationship and which aren't.
My rule for anything posted here: if it's gifted, it says so, and the score doesn't move because of it. A 5.5 stays a 5.5 whether I paid $60 for the jar or the brand mailed it over. If that costs a future box of freebies, fine — the whole point of a review is that it's honest, not friendly.
If an account never posts a bad review, that's not consistency, that's a marketing feed wearing a reviewer's clothes. Follow the ones willing to say a jar's mid even when the brand is a friend.
